I think we can all agree that the new Audi A1 Sportback looks like a formidably beautiful beast of a car. But Audi claim that it is as much beast as environmentally sound alternative for today’s conscious car buyer.

Whilst it is still only a concept car, Audi have a good track record of following through with their new concepts as with the R8, and with a gap in the new car market with the discontinued A2, now seems to be the perfect time to launch a new car.

The A1 boasts a 1.4-litre TSI engine developing 150bhp with the help of a turbo, supercharger and twin-clutch S tronic gearbox, the A1 is an enviable new car. However, at a claimed 92g/km CO2 (thanks to the new mild hybrid powertrain), our environmentally forward thinking friends are likely to be very jealous indeed.

Thanks Audi yet again for surpassing our expectations when it comes to producing brand new environmental cars.
